Right now over millions o people are talking about global warming. The effects from it are dangerously affected our everyday lives. Why are we so concerned about it is because it change world climate. Global warming has begun to be a new hot topic for scientist, people and also politicians. We can see the rising of people who fought for the destruction of the earth for instance Al Gore. World had knew that ozone layer are becoming much thinner than it ever was. Still humans create much more dangerous compounds that would affect the ozone layer. Tsunami and massive floods happened all around the world and, who supposedly to be blame? God? Or is it human itself that slowly destroying our earth?
There are a lot of ozone depleting chemical. For example, ChloroFlouroCarbon (CFCl3) substance that is doing harm to ozone layer. CFC comprises Carbon atom and Florin CFCl.
CFC causes the ozone molecule(O3) to disintegrate into Oxygen (O2). The reaction is:
- The producing of chlorine radicals
CFCl3 + UV Light ==> CFCl2 + Cl
Cl + O3 ==> ClO + O2
ClO + O ==> Cl + O2 - The free chlorine atom is then free to attack another ozone molecule
- Cl + O3 ==> ClO + O2
- ClO + O ==> Cl + O2
Although there were implementation for not using CFC, there are still more chemicals substance that can bring harm to earth atmosphere. Prevention to this is the development of technology to overcome the use of CFC and other dangerous substance such as Hydroflourocarbons (HCFC)
